Stress and Relaxation!

In this day and age, there are a lot of stressors in our lives that can make life seem so difficult at times. it's to the point where researchers have found links between diseases and STRESS and the impact that stress can have on our general health. I’ve learned that there are a lot of things that we can implement into our daily lives to help relieve some of the daily stressors. its all about going back to the basic with getting back to Nature and checking in with yourself. it is important to understand that stress within itself is not all bad, stress was created as a protective mechanism, it is one of our body natural reaction to escape a dangerous situation. The body kicks into high gear and hormones flood the bloodstream and thus allow us a chance to escape the danger, but currently our stressor is much more than danger per say, it can be as easy as a deadline for work, school, or stressed out about an upcoming exam of some sort, or a major interview, stressed out about paying bills, childcare , etc  whatever the case may be our body does not differentiate being chased by a dinosaur or that you have a major speech to deliver. it is important to recognize the stressors in your life whether positive or negative. it's important because if the body is in a constant state of chronic stress it may impact one's health.

 

Multiple studies have demonstrated the impact of stress on health there are several classifications of stress it can be physical, emotional, mental, and much more but, specifically emotional stressors (i.e.  news of terrorist attack, fight with parent or spouse, news of tragedy, loss of a relationship, loss of a loved one etc),  some studies have linked these emotional stress to  heart attack, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease and other diseases. there is a mind and body connection it's important to be aware of that connection.

  • Helpful Tips In dealing with stress
    • It is always important to identify the cause of the stress in order to properly address the stress.  Identifying the cause can help a person come up with strategies to address the matter. its important to the source of the stress.
    • Resting the mind sometimes can give a break to the stress. sometimes being stressed out one's mind can wander and race and could possibly lead to anxiety. it's important to allow the mind to be at ease. it can be a simple as taking a step back and notice once breath for example. just taking a deep breath in and out until you feel at ease.
      • There are some studies that have linked insomnia and other sleep disorders to stress
    • Know the triggers to your stress, to avoid them when possible, it's important to walk away from situations that may make you angry, or sad.
    • Talk a walk in nature, get some fresh air and sunlight if possible to help ease the mind
    • Relax
      • implement relaxation routine into your life, such as QIgong , Massage, etc, deep breathing, a walk in the park, soft music, a walk at the beach.
    • Getting a great night sleep and utilizing proper sleep hygiene ( dark room, no electronics for at least an hour prior to going to bed, etc)
    • Adequate Hydration
    • Interacting with friends
